Ward Council Message - Pres. Jim Hartley
Spiritual Mulligans
Golfers throughout the nation should have rejoiced on October 17th. It was National Mulligan Day. A “mulligan” in golf refers to a "do-over," a “correction shot,” a second try after your first has gone awry.

Sister Joy D. Jones “An Especially Noble Calling”
(April 2020, Saturday morning session)
...We can draw principles of truth from the Prophet Joseph’s experiences that provide insights for receiving our own revelation. For example:
- We labor under difficulties.
- We turn to the scriptures to receive wisdom to act.
- We demonstrate our faith and trust in God.
- We exert our power to plead with God to help us thwart the adversary’s influence.
- We offer up the desires of our hearts to God.
- We focus on His light guiding our life choices and resting upon us when we turn to Him.
- We realize He knows each of us by name and has individual roles for us to fulfill.
In addition, Joseph Smith restored the knowledge that we have divine potential and eternal worth. Because of that relationship with our Heavenly Father, I believe He expects us to receive revelation from Him.
The Lord’s loving influence through the Holy Ghost helps us know His priority for our progression. Heeding personal revelation leads to personal progression. We listen and act.
The Lord loves effort, and effort brings rewards. We keep practicing. We are always progressing as long as we are striving to follow the Lord. He doesn’t expect perfection today.

Ward Council Message ~ Pres. Janice Anderson
A lot has been on my mind this week. I’ve been pondering the messages of General Conference, along with the passing of Wendy Stettler. General Conference left me with a feeling of security and hope as we strive to live the gospel of Jesus Christ in these troubled times. I have a new commitment to prepare myself spiritually as well as physically for the times ahead.
My daughter and her four kids have moved in with us for a few months as she remodels her home. It’s been a wonderful experience studying Come Follow Me with them for a few minutes each morning before I start my day. One morning as we were studying Chapter 19 in 3rd Nephi, the kids were not sure what it meant to have your “countenance shine.” We had a wonderful conversation about what your countenance is and how the gospel makes it shine. When we closed with prayer, her 8 year old prayed that our countenances would always shine and that we would always pray continually.
The simplicity of a child in teaching me at that moment. If we lived so our countenance always had the light of Christ, of course we would be prepared for whatever that day brought our way. One of Wendy’s traits that I have been thinking about was her ability to just love you and make you feel good. President Nelson just makes you want to do better. Let’s all strive to have the light of Christ shine more abundantly as we minister and serve and live the gospel of Christ.
